Really enjoyed reading about a day over there.
Its easy to watch the movies and think its all blood n guts and forget about the little things that add up that can turn a day to crap.
Thank you for your service!

Great Site, I was a Gunner on a 105mm in the Artillary on LZ ACTION, QL 19 & CAMP RADCLIFF in AN KHE OCT 68 to AUG 69. Then AUG thru Oct, I was a door gunner on a Huey for the rest of my tour. It was a real trip flying thru Mang Yang pass, & flying over LZ Action & Schueller and Base Camp after having been on the ground in Fire Support there for most of the time.. An Khe Pass to PLEIKU. Made some flights from AN Khe to Qui NHON. also DA NANG, Nha Trang. Also Chu Lai, Mang Yang Pass was the freakiest. We were flying by LZ ACTION one day When a jet was dropping some napam on the Hill just across from Lz Action. That was really nerve racking. We could feel the percussion & heat from where I was in the chopper. I couldnt even believe what I was seeing. Well thank God for the air force, I knew all the guys on the Lz. and was glad they got the help they needed. Thanks... to everybody every where who served anywhere then and now God Bless AMERICA!

I was in A troop 2/1 from approx. Feb. through July 1970. Was always glad to see D troop come storming in to support us when the going got rough. Was in the battle of Song Mao…Thanks for the support there….That is one reason I volunteered to go to D troop as a door gunner……was there with D troop 2/1 and K troop 7/17 till they left and sent me to the swamps of Mekong delta to finish out my tour…we had GREAT pilots at Phan Thiet…..They were brave soldiers that flew into many hot LZ’s .

Hi Fred,I met your nephew Mike from Westcreek. He comes by my place to hunt with another friend of mine. He is a really nice man. He was telling me about your flying. I have an old Cessna 172 I fly once in awhile. I tie down at Toms Rive. I served in the Navy in peace time. I made it to several different places in the Pacific. I was aboard the carrier U.S.S. Hancock.

Hello,
I was browsing the internet for photos from flight school. I was a warrant officer aviator from 1987-1997
Your site is great.
May I use some of your photos for my blog? I will cite your website and provide a link to it. My blog is: www.dtappe.blogspot.com
I've tried to include a lot of stories from my 25 year flying career. Its been a lot of fun dredging up memories and images for my blog.
Dave

Howdy,
I stumbled across your web site purely by chance. My name is Randy Burgess and I was one of the "senior" FEs (at the old age of 19) in the 180th in 72. Spent time in Tuy Hoa before the move to lane. Then was at the Pleiku detachment flying missions out of Kontum. In fact I think I did a run with you to Leghorn I believe. Just wanted to thank you for your page, had fun perusing.
Thanks, Randy

Hi, I am trying to remember things, I was with the 180th in 1968 or first part of 69. Things seem messed up over the years, I was also with the 179th. I did two tours. Nice to see your site but it doesn't look right to me. Don Rogers

I'm just looking through Vietnam pictures on the web and found your page. I was in the 180 at Anson in 1972. Left Sept 24th. I started in Vinh Long until it was turned over to ARVNs, the CanTho, and finally finished my year out in Anson.

Hi. I am online looking for photos of my friend's dad, David Klapper, who recently passed away. I am putting together a photo album/memory book for his only grandson, Avery. I believe he is the Dave Klapper you mention on your website. Can you please confirm and possibly share other photos or stories about your time serving together? It is much appreciated. And, happy belated Veterans Day.
