Hey Fred, good to see you finally retired and doing well, been a long time since the 180th in RVN. Did you ever find out where Cpt Canada was? Time flies but memories of the past last forever. Take care

I flew this way hundreds of times in 1966-67 while flying for Det D, 1st MI Bn (ARS) out of Nha Trang. I flew deHavilland Beavers that year and my handle is the callsign for one of them...we were known to ATC as Good Guy. MYP was rough and rugged and always
a relief when it was behind me, especially headed east and back to home base in safe Nha Trang.

Good pictures. I was FE on 68-16019 at Tuy Hoa. We moved to Lane Field in late '71, I was one of the first to move. Knew lots of folks, but hard to find after it was all over. After moving to Lane, we mostly supported areas to the west and north. Lots of bad times, but there were good times also.

Enjoyed your photos. In the foreground of the "cemetery" photo is the old French fort we used as a temporary base in 1966 while patrolling around the pass. I was then S-2 of SF Det B-22 in An Khe. In 1970 I was Exec of Det C-2 in Plei Ku and later HQ Comdt of 5th SF Group in Nha Trang.

Fred, your name came up at supper tonight with my crew. I am flying with Irma Giddens (from San Antonio). Realized i haden't talked or heard from you in a while. Thought I would drop a line. How are things with you? Tim Elrod retired again and moved up towards Mckinney. Linda was itching for a new house. They are still putting the finishing touches on it. Moved in about 6 months ago.

Enjoyed your website thoroughly! I found it while looking for some info on Kham Duc. I commanded FSB Siberia and the 105 mm battery on it from May-Oct, 1970. Siberia, as you may know, was just outside Hiep Duc. Also took two of my guns to LZ Mellon briefly. Mellon was roughly half the distance between Siberia and Kham Duc. I had flown out to Kham Duc April, 1970 in an OH-6 with a young WO who touched us down briefly just for laughs. Later flew back briefly on a Hook when the place was reoccupied in Sep., 1970. Again, good work with your site.

Served in D Troop 2/1 Cav. in country '68 -'69. Was stationed in Ft. Hood and moved to Gray Army Air Corp when we got choppers. Deployed to Nam in rear detachment along with equipment: landed in Bien Hoy and hitch-hiked to Pleiku to hook-up with company. We moved to An Khe and operated throughout Central Highlands. Worked for W/O Radcliffe and W/O Trevino (badass Chicano). Got our Cobras while in country.
Lost all my photos, but still stay in touch with buddy - Nathan Hobson. Call me if you know me: (317) 341-4872. Cav all the way!

Was at Blackhawk Sep 68 to Feb 69 when we left for Duc Trong near Dalat. I was section chief on one of the 8" guns with A battery 5/22 Arty. Memories: Creighton Abrams coming to visit his son at FB and we had to jump out our asses to prepare--2/1 LP shooting huge Tiger and seeing it return under chopper--The night sappers hit the JP4 blivet and the huge fireball that resulted. We were up all night firing H&I as a result.
Thanks for the pics, memories abound.
