HI , I WAS WITH THE 1/10 D TROOP FROM NOV. 1969 -1971. I WAS IN THE ARP'S THEN WENT INTO LIGHT SCOUTS. SAW THE PASS MANY TIMES WHILE I WAS IN COUNTRY.

D trooop 68-69, scout platoon. Shot down in 69 and med evaced. Served with great men like, Funk, Ward, Petrie,Poe, Hudson, Meridith, and many more. Would love to talk to the crewchief that jumped from Meridiths LOH and joined me in the jungle. Also the Lt. that was with me on his first and last mission

enjoyed your photos of ft. polk. Was there in 10/66 to 12/66 & 1/67 to 2/67 for AIT. We helped build the huts and training center for VN AIT training on Peason Ridge, during the first week we were there on casual status, before our training cycle began. Was the hottest and coldest places I have ever been.

I'm sorry yet thankful for your sacrifice. It's men such as yourself that motivated me to join the military. I'm TDY enroute to be attached to 2-1 Cav. I hope to serve up to the standard of you and your peers.

Fred...Just found your website and it is great. Been a long time...I have foggy memories of Nam, but I did remember your name and a few others. I still stay in contact with Cpt Jim Norris and I spoke with Mike Disario many years ago. Went to 1 VHPA reunion in San Diego...didn't see anyone from the unit , but did see a bunch of guys from Europe that I flew with. CW 4 Jim Meredith

Thanks for the pictures. I was with Americal (123rd AVN) assigned TDY to Qui Nhon. One day in 69 or 70 I drove (as shotgun) from Qui Nhon to Pleiku to take a 4th Inf guy back to his unit for his return to CONUS. I "knew" about the An Khe pass, but one of the 4th Inf guys told me that I should be alert as we reached Mang Yang. As your photos show, there wasn't much vegetation present. The trip was uneventful except for almost flipping the jeep on the way back to Qui Nhon. The driver, "Crazy Joe" deserved his nickname.
