Just stopping by.... I am looking for aerial pictures of Blackhawk Firebase that was located on highway 19 about 20 clicks out from Pleiku in the Central highlands, Vietnam.
My unit, 2/1 Armored Cav, was there for some time. I arrived in the unit Jan 1969. We went operational and left the firebase end of June 1969.
Lots of helos in, out, and around that FB but I can't find much in the way of pictures.

This is cool. I've always wondered if there was anything on my old unit. I am SP/4 Juan Perez. I was with the 180th ASHC in Vietnam from August 1972 to March 1973. I would like to have some pictures if possible of when I was there. Thanks for this site and God Bless.

As an engineer I spent a lot of time at Blackhawk while repairing "19" and some at LZ Action when we laid down a concrete pad at the entrance.
Mang Yang was a very familiar and scary place to be. Always seemed so chilly even on the hottest days...guess a lot of ghosts there. Even got a chopper trip in the door gunner seat from An Khe to Plieku once.
A lot of the rest of my time was on "14" in the north too. Glad to be back but I'd kinda like to see what it looks like now.
Welcome Home

I served with the 518th TC Det. in Ft. Carson. I 1049 for Vietnam. One week later the 518th was ordered to go to Vietnam as a unit. I went as an individual replacement and on to the 187th AHC in Tay Ninh.
Nice site.

Hi Fred
Great website and a tribute to all fellow Scouts and helicopter crews. Nice pics, and you are sure right about Scouts. I spent time in Chu Lai D-1-1 Cav as a LOH/Scout door gunner.
