It was 37 years ago today that I flew home from 2-1 Cavalry and the Nam. In those 37 years, I can't remember a day that I haven't thought about you and me trying to get home in one piece during that life changing year. Some days I look back and laugh. Other days; well, I keep to myself. Some days I feel like I never left.

Congratulations on your retirement! I'm sure you will miss the view from the front window - at least for a while. All your friends in the frozen north wish you the best!

Fred,
I enjoyed flying with you this past month. Thanks for this historical website, it's very educational to see some representations of the Vietnam war from someone who lived it. I hope you enjoy retirement.

I knew Jeff Borr when he attended college at Grand Valley (1966-1967). He lived on campus with a bunch of other crazy guys who I also became good friends with. He didn't stay in school very long but he resurfaced about a year later (in the military) and we had one helluva party for him before he left again--for the last time. I was touched by your tribute & will remember him on September 9th.

FRED, I have joined the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, earned fron the 30 August 'incident' in 1969. Was interested in your DAY 303 short story. If you still have information about that day I would appreciate hearing from you.

Hello, Really enjoyed your site! I always new I once belonged to military units with rich history, D 2/1 CAV& 242nd AVN CO. I was not with the units in Nam. I was too young to join. When I was old enough the war was over. I was not with D Troop untill Oct 76 when it was attached to the 502nd Armored Division @ Ft. Hood TX. Your site to my surprize did bring me some good memories when I got to the ALASKA page. I saw a couple of Chinnook's I used to work on during my tour with the 242nd Sugar Bear's , I was an engine man there Jan 79 - Jun 81. I also have spent some time doing maintenance on the J31 & 41's!
Thanks Again. Send a reply if you like.
Duane Moore.

Fred,
I enjoyed your web site when it was a link with the 2-1 Cav. I am in a few of the pictures and have a lot of the same subjects, ie, downed helicopters, the tiger etc. Are you still a memeber of the 2-1 Association? Last year I volunteered to take over the vacated D Troop Representative slot and just wanted to establist commo with you again. Also would like to know if you are going to the reunion this year at Gettysburg. This will be my first and am really looking forward to it and have had numerous replies from some of the troops we served with and those that came later that they are going to attend. Hopefully this will be the biggest D Troop turn out ever.
Let me know. E-mail is shudson@cox.net and I don't hear very good on the phone.

I really like your site. I've spent lots of time browsing. It's taught me a lot I didn't know about Vietnam and the men who were there.
