Just happened on your website. It's great. I was in the 1/69th Armor and 1/10th Cav with 4th ID. Spent a lot of days on Mang Yang Pass & at LZ Blackhawk, Scheuller & Action. Pleiku up to Ben Het. Worked with the ROK's out of Phu Cat a couple of times. I'm sure I saw your aircraft regularly. Had 2 Cobras and Loaches with us on search & destroy.
Thanks again. Dave

Greetings and thanks for the photos and memories!
From 14 March '64 to 26 Feb '65, I was the Senior Advisor to 22nd Ranger bn from Soui Doi a few clicks down the road near Pleiku. The bn. travelled the pass perhaps 10 times, and we zipped through there alone several times trying to catch the Sunday "Steak night" at MACV compound. Late in the day, on 22 Feb a company of rangers and I were airlifted east of the pass to assist an Eagle Flight and clear an SF ambush. Col Mataxis (BG later) has a good article in Army October 1965 mag.
Have a great day!

I'm glad you made it home. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I was at Ft. Hood with D Troop in 1970, after coming back from Nam. I think it was D Troop second of the first aka Old Iron Sides. With 38 pilots and only 6 birds if they all were up the same day. Played a LOT of spades at Operations and was part of Sgt Smith's trial. I left active duty in Dec 1970 to avoid a possible trial myself with the evidence that they used against Smith. I managed to go to Killeen college and get my commercial Fixed license before I left.

Dear D-2-1 members, I'm looking to contact Dick Lambert whose photos on Flickr of D-2-1 aircraft would fit nicely into my next helicopter photo-book. Thanks, John Brennan, former SP5, 114 AHC, 1970-71, Vinh Long AAF, Mekong Delta
